Help the kids ! Spread the Love

I'm basically a carebear in disguise, you all know that. This morning in my news feed, I saw a Philadelphia charity event early next year for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.  It’s called the Cupid’s Undie Run Benefit. Of course, I joined and ask my friends to join as well. We can all help, either by joining the team or by making donation.

This event is dedicated to ending Neurofibromatosis (NF) through research. NF is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, causing blindness, deafness, learning disabilities and severe chronic pain.

Currently, there is no cure for NF and there are frighteningly few treatment options.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a Charity Navigator 4-Star charity that prides itself on efficiency, spending 82.4% of its revenue on program expenses and less than 8% on administrative costs. NF affects roughly 1:3,000 births in the U.S. and is in desperate need of new discovery, which is why 100% of funds raised through Cupid’s Undie Run go directly to the Children’s Tumor Foundation.  (Pretty much all that was taken right from the site so don’t tell the  plagiarizing police!)

I will be stripping to my skivvies and running around in the frigid temps this February, all in an effort to raise funds so kids like Nicole Riley can grow up happy and healthy.

Nicole, like many seven-year-olds her age, loves her dolls and her Mickey Mouse goes everywhere... including countless doctor appointments and every MRI she must undergo.

Nicole was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis (NF) at one year old and lives with a plexiform tumor in her abdomen which causes both internal issues as well as the loss of her ability to walk.

I am running in my undies in the freezing cold because we are in a race to cure NF. I believe we can do it! And for the millions of NF families around the world, I sincerely thank you for your help.

If I am willing to get out there in the middle of winter in my undies and make this bold move for such a worthy cause, I hope that you can spare a few dollars to contribute.
